Will She Like Wanda’s Idea?

Siblings. Do you have any?  I do.  In fact, I come from a pretty decent size family.  Growing up with two brothers and a sister, we were all very different.  Sometimes you have to wonder how we could be so different being raised by the same parents, in the same house for a big part of our lives.  Sure, we might have shared a couple qualities among one another, but overall we were each our own person with our own personalities, our own strengths, our own weaknesses.

Wanda, also comes from a large family.  A family with 7 children.  4 boys. 3 girls. And again each with their own personalities.  Each with something they do really well and that makes them stand out in the family.  If you follow this blog or facebook or have been into the shop, you know first hand a talent Wanda is pretty amazing at, and that is creating awesome pieces of furniture.  She has a vision for creating one of a kind pieces or pieces we might consider ready for the garbage.  We might see something that is broken, but Wanda sees something that just needs a new purpose, a new life.  So, with that being said, Wanda wanted to put her creativity and talents to use and create something for her sister Barb.  Before we move on though, let me introduce you to Barb.

This Barb on the left and Wanda on the right.  You can definitely tell they are sisters. They may have different personalities, but what they lack in that area, they definitely make up for in appearance.

These tables already belonged to Barb, but they needed a new look to them.  The only catch, Barb really didn’t get a say in what Wanda would get to do to them.  Barb had to trust that her little sister would know her well enough, to give these tables a makeover that would make Barb happy in the end.  That is one advantage of being a sisters.  Who knows you better than you might just know yourself?!?!?  Right! 🙂

So, Wanda got busy thinking on just what she would do to these tables.  I have to say, I am not sorry to see these tables get a makeover.  I do really like the shapes of the tables, but the wood, eh not as much.  I definitely couldn’t wait to see what Wanda had planned for these tables.

This is the finished coffee table painted with a burgundy color on the bottom and gray over the top then distressed to bring out the red.  She added a stencil to the top in French. Makes me wish I had taken French in school so I knew more than just the word “Paris”.  🙂

We can’t forget the end table.  I love the silver hardware added to the drawer.  It gives this end table a gorgeous new look.  I would definitely give it my seal of approval and chalk it up to another Wanda success, but the real test is if it is a success with Barb or not.  Does Wanda really know what her sister would like when it comes to refinishing her furniture?

Absolutely she does.  Barb loved the tables and was definitely happy she let Wanda surprise her with a new look for her tables.  They fit perfectly in her home.

“Wine” Yes I Think I Will…

have a glass!  Wine glass holder that is!  I know my last post covered the Pinterest Inspired Windows class Wanda & Beki hosted a couple weeks ago.  They even hosted a second Pinterest Inspired Windows class last night, since the first one was quite popular and filled up quickly.  I even posted a photo of the wine glass holder that Wanda made, but I wanted to elaborate on that post a bit more.   Also, I wanted to show the before photo of the window.

So here it is!  I don’t know about you, but I would have never given that window a second look if I walked by it or if I would have looked twice,  it would have been a thought of, well I know what’s going in my trash can to be taken to the local dump.  I definitely wouldn’t have thought, “oh, that will make a perfect hanging wine glass rack”.  Ah, but leave it to Wanda to see the potential of this window.  Can we say from “Trash to Treasure”, and I do mean treasure!

Doesn’t she have such vision!  I love that she left the window a bit distressed, which I think gives it that old feel, leaving it’s character intact, and it lets you know this window has not only a history, but a story, as well.  Though, no longer used for a window to look out from, it has been given a second life.  A new story to tell, a new place to hang in someone’s home.  It could have been left in an old barn or shed to gather more dust or to even been thrown out, but now it serves a new purpose for a new home.

My favorite part of this window, is the design Wanda created on the glass.  It has a “timeless” feel to it, which I think fits perfectly with this piece. Something old, turned into something completely new.  Even,  if you are not one to indulge in a glass of wine from time to time, we should all indulge in a glass of juice in a fancy wine glass on occasion.  If you are like me, who loves this piece and would like to create one that fits your home decor, but have no idea how to get from point A to point B in designing your own wine glass rack, the great thing is that Wanda can teach you just how to make your very own!  You can purchase one of the windows we have in our warehouse or bring one you have already from home and the wine glass holder rods and sign up for one of her upcoming windows classes.  I know whatever you create it will be something you are proud to show off to family and friends.

Something Old, Turned Into Something New…

If you were given this old antique wheel chair and told to create something new with it, what would you do with it?

Well have no worries, because at The Perfect Pair, we can always come up with some new idea for almost any piece we encounter.  So Wanda and Donna got to work on coming up with a new use for the wheel chair.  First, they started with deciding on a new color for the chair.  Yep. Yellow.  Bright and colorful.  Perfect! Then, they decided to add some peg board to the back of the chair and some hooks to hand some gardening tools from.  Perfect! Then, they decided to cut a hole in the “leg” part of the chair.  Added a small waste basket for small debris removal.  Perfect! Gardening gloves, watering can, flower pots, etc. and you have the perfect way to tinker around your garden with your new garden cart all at your finger tips.  Perfect!

Now that is a one of a kind piece your neighbors probably won’t have to do their gardening with!  🙂  Stop in and check out this garden cart and who knows it might just be the “Perfect” piece for you! Unless your neighbor snatches up this piece before you do. 😉
